| Our StoryThe Friends of SOS Sunshine Paws Sanctuary is a group of animal lovers who come from all over the globe. Some hail from as far afield as Australia, Canada and the United States. Some supporters are from Bosnia, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Netherlands, Ireland and the United Kingdom. How it all started. When Sejla began to rescue dogs from the street, she realised that she could not keep all of them in private pensions as the cost was too high, with the constant threat of the dogs being released back on the streets, so she found the premises that she currently rents, and moved in there in December 2015. Gradually, Sejla moved all her dogs from private pensions into these premises, which she named SOS Sunshine Paws Sanctuary. This move was fully completed in April 2016 when Sejla’s last dog, Jerry Lee, was moved into the Shelter from the pension where he had been living. Where we are now.Throughout the summer of 2016, improvements were made to the rundown shelter, new boxes for the dogs were completed and the leaking roof was repaired. Sejla then also rented the little two-room accommodation adjoining the shelter, so that she could stay there overnight during the bad weather in case the snow became so bad that she would unable to get to the shelter.
