In Memory Of Freddie

"All animals are somebody – someone with a life of their own.  Behind those eyes is a story; the story of their life in their world, as they experience it."

Tom Regan

Freddie was taken to the killing station by the dog catchers after being picked up wandering the Sarajevo streets.  Sejla saw him there in January 2016.  She realised that he was very elderly and took him to the safety of SOS Sunshine Paws Sanctuary.

Freddie loved tennis balls, and most pictures of him also show a tennis ball either at his feet or in his mouth.  Everyone knew which was Freddie’s dog box and run because of the number of tennis balls hidden away there!

He had very long hair and Sejla and her mum tried to keep him nicely groomed.  In the summer, however, he joined fellow long-haired dog, Adele, on a visit to a professional dog groomer.  When he came out he looked stunning and he kept the blue bow he was given in his hair for many months.

Freddie then joined Gringo and Adele on a special day treat, when Sejla decided to take them to a local beauty spot with a lake, which Freddie loved, and he was able to paddle to his heart’s content.

Freddie became very ill in September 2016, and the heart-breaking decision had to be taken to say goodbye to him.  Everybody loved Freddie and he is sadly missed at the SOS Sunshine Paws Sanctuary.  Freddie was buried at the Shelter, along with his blue bow and a tennis ball !
