Successfully adopted in the UK in December 2016
Adele was found wandering in the hills around the little village near where SOS Sunshine Paws Sanctuary is located, in the spring 2016. She was rescued along with Lupi, a Golden Labrador, who has also been successfully adopted.
Adele was suffering from an acute skin disease and needed urgent veterinary attention. After a few weeks of treatment, Adele’s condition started to improve, but it proved difficult to apply medication to her skin because of her long hair. Donations were collected from supporters and Sejla took Adele to a dog grooming salon. After her pampering and complete with a red ribbon, she looked a completely different dog, as her hair had to be stripped and she ended up with a pompom tail.
The medication was applied regularly and she continued on the long road to recovery. In the summer Sejla decided to take two of the very elderly dogs to a local beauty spot, with a lovely lake, to give them a treat. Supporters were surprised and delighted when they saw photographs of this outing, as Sejla had decided to take the recovering Adele along with them.
In December Adele was again taken to the dog groomers, but this time it was in preparation for her trip to the UK, as she had been offered a foster place by Hart2Hart, a UK dog rescue and rehoming shelter. Adele spent Christmas 2016 at the home of foster carer, Tracey White and her family, before being adopted into her permanent home. The person who adopted Adele runs a dog grooming business, which ideal for a dog like Adele, whose coat needs regular attention. A wonderful success story for SOS Sunshine Paws Sanctuary – rescue work at its best.
